What's new and updated on WaconiaGuide. We update this page when we ship new guides, expand the directory, or improve the way the site works. Spotted something off?

  • Fact-checked every directory listing and guide against the businesses' and agencies' own websites. Many older entries had wrong addresses, phone numbers, hours or invented details; all are corrected.
  • Removed listings for businesses we could not find any evidence of in Waconia (Lakeside Tavern, Mucho Mexican Restaurant, Lake Waconia Marine, Bayview Event Center, a Coborn's and a Westside Liquor), and for J. Carver Distillery, which is closing by the end of October 2026.
  • Corrected the town's population (13,033 at the 2020 Census; about 14,100 estimated for 2025) and Lake Waconia's shoreline (about 11 miles, per the DNR).
  • Lake Waconia Regional Park: corrected the size (164 acres), hours (6am to 10pm) and beach details. There are no lifeguards; swimming is at your own risk.
  • Boat rentals guide rewritten: In Towne Marina rents pontoons, Carver County rents kayaks, paddleboards and canoes at the park, and the boating permit section now follows the DNR's phase-in schedule.
  • Removed quotes and attributions we could not source, and removed the claim that Deardorff Orchards is pick-your-own, which the orchard's own site does not say.
  • Removed star ratings and review counts from directory and lodging pages. They were summaries of other sites' reviews with no date or source; this site collects no reviews of its own.
  • Removed the "interested" counts from the events calendar. They were estimates, not measured attendance.
  • Directory: added 7 places people look up by name, each checked against the business's own website: Johnson Funeral Home, Lakeview Clinic, Safari Island Community Center, Waconia Ice Arena, Pangea Cafe, Mackenthun's Fine Foods and Target. 39 directory listings total.
  • Events: added Trunk or Treat at the Carver County Fairgrounds (Oct 25, 2 to 4pm, free), from the Waconia Chamber's community calendar. 14 events total.
  • Old links from the previous version of this site (/listing/... pages) now redirect to the matching directory page instead of returning an error.
  • Correction: AmeriVu Inn & Suites was listed with the wrong address and phone number. It is at 550 Cherry Drive, (952) 442-8787, per the hotel's own website. Example rental names were removed from the lodging page; it now links to live listings only.
  • The events calendar now lists upcoming events first.
  • GSC-driven directory expansion: added 6 verified restaurants/bars with real unmet search demand — D'Vinci's Restaurant, Bode Gray's (and its attached speakeasy, The Brass Hat), Green Fox Grille, Culver's, and Caribou Coffee. 38 directory listings total.
  • Editorial correction: Island View Golf Club's address was wrong (9320 Klein Cir); corrected to 7795 Laketown Parkway, the club's actual site — also home to its Green Fox Grille restaurant, now a separate listing.
  • Updated /guides/best-restaurants-in-waconia with the new additions — a new Italian section (D'Vinci's & Bode Gray's), Green Fox Grille under lakeside dining, Caribou Coffee under breakfast/coffee, The Brass Hat under cocktails, and Culver's under family spots. 17 restaurants reviewed, up from 11.
  • Events refresh: added the Edge of the Big Woods Art Wander (Sept 25–27), Fall on the Farm at the Historic Andrew Peterson Farmstead (Sept 26, cross-linked to the Carver County Historical Society listing), and Pink Friday Shopping (Nov 20) — all verified against Destination Waconia's official 2026 calendar. 13 events total.
  • Rest-of-2026 events refresh: added D.E.A.R. Hunting Shopping Day (Nov 7), Small Business Saturday (Nov 28), the Waconia Christkindlsmarkt holiday market (early December, 2026 dates TBA), and Deardorff Orchards apple season (Labor Day weekend–late October) to the events calendar.
  • Added /guides/apple-orchards-near-waconia — apple picking at Deardorff Orchards + Parley Lake Winery, with variety timing (SweeTango, Zestar!, Honeycrisp, Haralson).
  • Added /guides/waconia-christmas — the full holiday guide: Christkindlsmarkt, Tree Lighting, and November's shop-small days.
  • Editorial correction: Waconia Brewing Co. (closed January 2026) and Schram Haus Brewery (closed December 2025) removed from the directory and all recommendations; the weekly trivia night listing was retired. Added Parley Lake Winery and Deardorff Orchards listings in their place.
  • Refreshed the wineries & breweries day-tour (now Schram → Parley Lake → Sovereign → J. Carver), the fall and winter seasonal guides, best-of picks, and the dining roundup to reflect the 2026 craft-beverage lineup. 28 guides total.
  • Refreshed the two oldest guides: the Lake Waconia fishing guide now documents the lake's special walleye regulation (16-inch minimum, one over 20 inches) and biennial fingerling stocking, plus a late-summer transition note; the Lake Waconia complete guide picks up the Crappie Contest and current town references.
  • Activated the two in-content ad units on every guide page (real AdSense slot IDs added to adSlots.ts). Auto Ads continues to run site-wide.
  • Added /guides/waconia-wedding-venues — lakefront, vineyard, and golf-club wedding venues in and around Waconia (high-intent local content), cross-linked to 4 directory listings.
  • Added /guides/senior-living-in-waconia — a family's guide to care levels, what makes Waconia a fit (Ridgeview), costs, and how to verify communities through authoritative directories.
  • Added /waconia-facts — a structured, citation-ready facts sheet (population, ZIP, county, coordinates, Lake Waconia stats, history, events) with City + FAQPage + Speakable schema. Built as a GEO citation magnet for AI engines.
  • Added /guides/carver-county-fair — guide to the August fair (dates, what to see, tips), cross-linked to the event listing.
  • Added /guides/waconia-farmers-market — Thursday-evening market guide (June–September), cross-linked to the event listing.
  • Linked Waconia Facts in the footer and llms.txt; surfaced the new event guides from the summer seasonal rail. 24 guides total.
  • Added /guides/best-restaurants-in-waconia — a local's dining roundup (best overall, lakeside, breakfast, craft beer & wine, family) cross-linked to 11 directory listings.
  • Added /guides/cost-of-living-in-waconia — category breakdown of housing, property taxes, groceries, utilities, transportation, and income tax.
  • Added /guides/waconia-neighborhoods — area-by-area guide to downtown, lakefront, north-side, and rural-fringe living.
